This is the most frequent infection in all age groups due to virus infection and is highly contagious.

Causes
Viral infection due to:-
- Personal contact with infected people.
- Infection due to inhalation of droplets from infected people through cough and sneeze.
- Infection by hand of a infected person touching your eyes or nose.
- Cold weather and changing temperature can predispose to cold.
People who are at risk of infection:-
- Children attending school or day care.
- Parents of the children attending school.
- Large families.
- Unhygienic family practices.
- Cold weather.
- Lower resistance due to fatigue, exhaustion, loss of sleep, stress, depression.
